Who we are…..

After a number of years, individuals from other organizations realized the tremendous problem and dedication needed to save and restore the Peoria Lakes.  All of the local Environmental organizations were multi/purposed.  And that a new organization was needed whose sole purpose was the Peoria Lakes.

In June 1988 Heartland Water Resources Council was formed.

Heartland Water Resources Council is a voluntary, non-profit organization under the laws of the State of Illinois and Section 501(c)(3).  All revenues to HWRC are provided by contributions from the private and corporate sectors, as well as the City of Peoria, City of East Peoria, City of Pekin, and the Tri-Counties

Some of the services provided include working with schools and groups to demonstrate the effects of erosion and sedimentation, investigating erosion problems with property owners and connecting them with the organizations and/or agencies who will best serve them. We work with other organizations to develop a strong working commitment to our natural resources for the good of our communities.

Heartland Water Resources Council is responsible for fostering ideas and developing alternative methods, which not only assist the mission of the council, but may also apply through the nature resources and agricultural sectors of our state.
