The mission of the Heartland Water Resources Council is to “Save and Restore the Peoria Lakes” and tributaries.  The accomplishments of this mission is through work done directly with local, state & federal agencies, and with the financial support of concerned citizens.

Heartland Water Resources Council’s purpose is also to educate the public regarding issues related sedimentation, erosion, flooding and other issues pertinent to our lakes and tributaries.

Some of the services provided include working with schools and groups to demonstrate the effects of erosion and sedimentation, investigating erosion problems with property owners and connecting them with the organizations and/or agencies who will best serve them. We work with other organizations to develop a strong working commitment to our natural resources for the good of our communities.

Heartland Water Resources Council is responsible for fostering ideas and developing alternative methods, which not only assist the mission of the council, but may also apply through the nature resources and agricultural sectors of our state.
